Senator Godswill Akpabio, the former governor of Akwa Ibom state, who was earlier this week involved in a car accident, has shared his hospital photo.
On August 31, Akpabio became victim of the crash in Abuja, following which he was reportedly rushed to a Nigerian hospital for medical treatment. The politician was said to have sustained injuries on his chest and hand.
If was further obtained from a source that he had been flown to London, the United Kingdom, for treatment because of a long waiting list in the national hospital.
Akpabio’s decision in favour of the UK hospital generated criticism. People recalled that in May he opened a N30billion hospital in Uyo and told Nigerians it was a healthcare institution of world-class specialist standard with had sophisticated equipment.
Today Akpabio’s picture from the hospital bed appeared on his Twitter account. Although it was not possible to verify if the account is run by the politician, the person on the photo looks like senator Akpabio. The image goes under the following caption: “Though down but not out, I will rise again.”
It was not provided, however, in what hospital and what country the photo had been taken.
In two other tweets the politician thanked Nigerian and the immediate past president, Goodluck Jonathan, for support.
