One of the daughters of former vice president,Atiku Abubakar, has been nominated for a slot in the cabinet of Governor Bindow Jibrilla of Adamawa state.
Fatima Abubakar was listed with twenty-one other nominees which were sent to the state house of assembly today for screening. Two other close associates of the former vice president were also nominated.
They are Ibrahim Mijinyawa, a former gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, and Umar Daware. There were rumours that all was not well in the relations between the former vice president and Governor Jibrilla, but this recent move shows that the two political heavy weights have settled their differences.
Governor Jibrilla was not Atiku’s favourite to emerge as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Adamawa governorship election earlier this year.
Premium Times reports that well-wishers from across the state and beyond gathered at the Adamawa state house of assembly complex as early as 9:00am today to witness the process of confirmation by the lawmakers.
The list also features two former commissioners in Murtala Nyako’s government. Also, four women made the list. They are Shanti Victoria Shashi, Kaletapwa Farauta, Fatima Atiku Abubakar and Lilian Nabe Kayode.
Atiku recently described the tenure of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega, as impressive and invaluable.
