Be Sensitive TO Nigeria’s Economic Challenges – Senator Tells Buhari

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Air Force, Senator Duro Faseyi, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to handle the declining economic fortunes of the country with great caution.

He observed that the current economy challenges facing the nation especially the abysmal drop in the prices of petrol which is our major source of revenue, there is the need for seriousness at handling such sensitive issue of national importance.

The legislator made this known in a release made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti.

Senator Faseyi noted with dismay the current uproar over the budget and described it as a way of taking the nation backward to a stone age.

According to him, the submission of two versions of a budget proposal for a single financial year by the president and his senior special Assistant on National Assembly Matters, Sen. Ita Enang, was diversionary and worrisome.

The current development in our national life is nothing but awkwardness, uncouthness and barbarity which must be condemned by all patriotic individuals in order to guide against such occurrence and safe the nation from international embarrassment.

Nigeria is being looked at as an unserious and imaginary element due to activities of the people in power since the inception of the present administration. And the image of the Country is dwindling on daily basis as a result of the way government at the centre is carrying out its policies and programmes.

For instance, how can we explain the controversy on the budget which ordinarily was a making of the government and that, nobody forced the ruling party or the president to hastily presented it when the proposed budget had not ready for public presentation.

The scenario has shown the climax of the kangaroo and deceit of propaganda of the APC government in Nigeria and mal-administration Nigerians should be expecting in the four years of the present administration in the country.

“What people thought they voted for, was a positive change but reverse is the case now, as it has been clinically written that the present APC government is only good at propaganda as an opposition”.

Nigerians are watching with keen interest and they will surely do the needful in 2019 by voting into power the party that is always ready to prepare a realistic and acceptable budget and execute such to a reasonable percentage unlike the present situation we are battling with.

The former two-term member of the House of Representatives noted that “there is difference between party for opposition and party for governance”. PDP remains a formidable and best party for good
governance in Nigeria.

“No matter how you cajoled and lured people or the electorate to vote for you as an individual or a Party but one fact still remains that, you can not give what you don’t have”.

“APC is only good at propaganda but when it comes to good governance, gives it to PDP.

“Politics apart, budget is a serious and collective agenda of all because it forms the basis of the financial activities of the nation for a physical year and without such acceptable document, the nation can not get anything right, except through abracadabra and nightmare.

”And with the current economy challenges facing the nation especially the abysmal drop in the prices of petrol which is our major source of revenue, there is the need for seriousness at handling such sensitive issue of national importance.”

Senator Faseyi, however, assured Nigerians that the present Senate will only work on and give them a workable, pragmatic and realistic budget that will alleviate their sufferings.
