A Pentecostal church pastor identified as Nzube Ohuama has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl during a night vigil programme organized by the church.
According to Daily Post report, prior to the incident, the pastor had told the girl’s parents that she was possessed by an evil spirit which has been tormenting her and he has to conduct a special prayer session for her.
At about 1a.m. during the vigil, which the teenager attended with her parents, Pastor Ohuama announced to his congregation that he had a special prayer session to carry out with the girl.
He then led her to a private room attached to the church with the permission of her parents.
Unfortunately for him he was caught in the act by the victim’s sister, who walked in after she heard her sister crying in the office.
The incident was reported to her parents, who lodged a complaint at the Fegge police station.
The pastor was later arrested by the Anambra state police command.
Rape is becoming a rampant occurrence. No week goes by without a reported case of rape, especially adults sexually assaulting little children. Last week, a 28-year-old man, Azeez Abdullahi, was remanded in prison by a chief magistrates’ court for allegedly raping his 12-year-old sister-in-law.
