The residents of Ibeshe Ikorodu area of Lagos yesterday  protested  against incessant robbery attacks and rape in the area.

The protesters called on the Lagos state government and security agencies to curb the situation and secure their lives and property. It was learnt that the act of raping and arm robbery in the area is on the rise. And life is being constantly threatened by cult members and militants.

New Telegraph reports that some residents had fled their houses as there has not been  peace  in  the community for the past two years. The chairman, Ibesheland joint community development association, protested to the state house of assembly.

The community chairman,  pastor Fred Olanipekun, said their community has been under the siege of cultists for a long time. Olanipekun, who led the protest, called on the state government to come to their aid and restore peace in the community. He disclosed that recently a cult group leader known as ‘Badoo’  wreaked havoc on the community.

According to him, ‘Badoo’  goes on raping spree, kidnaps and maims many people in the community.

He said: “For the past two years, we have been experiencing incessant rape of widows, single mothers, young and old women and ladies.”

“last month a group of cultists ravaged the community and attacked a Ghanaian lady, simply identified as Grace.

“She was raped and during the act all her teeth were removed.”

“Because of the brutal attacks unleashed on women, many women have run away from Okeota community, a suburb of in Ibeshe town.

According to one of the women identified as Oluwaseun Osundairo, some women in the community were afraid and they decided to flee.

She said some men have also run away  with  their wives and children. She said: “We have been  on this issue for long.

All the reports we have made to the police has not yielded any result. “Now that the condition has become unbearable that is why we are here to appeal with  the government  to come for our aid.”
