The president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has felicitated with Muslims in Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-El-Fitr.
President Erdogan, whose country recently suffered terror attack at the Atartuk airport, was said to have felicitated with Muslims in Nigeria during a telephone conversation with President Muhammadu Buhari.
This was a disclosed in a statement by Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president on media and publicity.
Erdogan rejoiced with Nigerians on the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan despite whatever distractions. The terror attack on Tuesday, June 28, at Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport threw the world into mourning.
The two explosions and gunfire left no fewer than 36 persons dead and more than 40 people reportedly injured. Buhari had written a letter to the Turkish President, commiserating with him and the entire people of Turkey in the wake of the bombings at the Ataturk airport in Turkey.
He had described the incident as a “horrific attack on their soil by evil forces who have nothing to do with Islam despite their warped beliefs.”
