The Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, is among the five witnesses the Federal Government intends to present during the trial of the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the Vanguard reports.
The Vanguard, quoting unnamed reliable sources, said El-Rufai is to testify against Saraki on the properties the Senate president acquired in Abuja.
El-rufai was a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The Vanguard said El-Rufai is expected to testify that he was the one that sold one of the assets that Saraki bought in Abuja, which the government alleged that he failed to include among the assets belonging to him.
The newspaper did not mention the names of the other four witnesses.
The Code of Conduct Tribunal is trying Saraki for failing to declare some of the assets he acquired while he was Governor of Kwara State between 2003 and 2011.
He was arraigned on Tuesday after failing to honour the summons of the CCT on Friday and Monday.
At his arraignment, Saraki pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
He was granted bail, with the case adjourned to October 21, 22 and 23 for hearing.
