48-year-old estate agent, Olalekan Biodun, who allegedly stole N2.7 million from EcoBank Plc, was yesterday charged before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting at Igbosere.
The defendant, who resides at 8, Awokoniran Street off Old Ogba Road, Agege, is standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and impersonation preferred against him by the police. The prosecutor, Sergeant Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the defendant conspired with others, now at large, to commit the offences.
He said that the offence took place on August 5, at Ecobank Plc. Osuji said that the defendant stole N2,710,000 from account number 2172042416, which belongs to the bank. The prosecutor further alleged that the defendant impersonated himself as one Sunny Jomafunwe to steal the said money. The offences are punishable under Sections 409, 284 and 76 (C) of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2011.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
