Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) said the re-arrest of the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, and the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, after they were granted bails by different courts amounts to impunity.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari won the presidential election on the promise to fight corruption and end impunity in the country and he ought to ensure that the rule of law was respected.
He said the orders for bail of Dasuki and Kanu should be respected as there was no legal legal justification for the re-arrest.
Falana stated that if the government was not in support of the court’s ruling granting them bail, it had the option of challenging it at the Court of Appeal.
He said as much as Nigerians were fully behind the Buhari administration in the patriotic move to recover the nation’s looted wealth, the federal government should follow the tenets of the rule of law.
He called the on the federal government to promptly comply with the order granting bail to Kanu.
