A new maternity centre in Gbaga, off Ijede Road, Ikorodu has been commissioned. Located at Plot 10, Amadi Street, co-owners, Captain and Mrs Aigbogun Alloysius, said government should partner well-meaning people to give “sound healthcare to the citizenry.” They added: “Our aspiration to provide sound healthcare to the citizenry motivated us to establish the state-of-the-art medical centre in the community for residents instead of going three kilometres outside the community for their medical needs.”
Immediate past Chairman of New Covenant Estate Community Development Association, Rev. Samuel Judah, who cut the tape to declare the facility open, praised the owners for establishing the first medical centre in the community since the inauguration of the CDA seven years ago. He enjoined residents to access various services at discounted rates.
Taking guests round the centre, Dr Lydia Alloysius, daughter of the owner, said: “Facilities available include ambulance, ICU, operating theatre; equipment for family planning and immunisation as well as laboratory for tests”. She implored residents to offer constructive criticisms that will fas-track the development of the centre.
“Our staff are qualified in their chosen fields because we have zero tolerance for quacks. Hepatitis treatment is also available”, said the medical doctor. Appreciating the medical centre which will boost health care in the community, Mr Olufunso Aina thanked the proprietors for their foresight and love for humanity.
