The UK’s Telegraph provides that Boko Haram insurgents used a 12-year-old girl and “mentally handicapped” woman to carry out the weekend attacks in Nigeria’s northeast and in Cameroon.
According to the report, it was the case when the militants stormed Damaturu and Maroua.
A powerful blast in the northeastern Nigerian city of Damaturu on Sunday claimed lives of at least 15 people. Dozens of locals were injured. A day earlier suspected Boko Haram militants terrorized the locals of the Cameroonian town. A suicide bombing was launched by a teenage girl. No fewer than 18 deaths were said to have been recorded.
The sect has recently intensified its deadly activities. The current administration has been under attack over the inability to tackle insurgency. However, some officials insist that the development is caused by Boko Haram’s despair, as they are losing “their” captured territories.
Meanwhile President Muhammadu Buhari speaking recently on the issue lamented that there were not enough serviceable air force fighter jets and other military hardware to quickly win the anti-Boko Haram war.
