A 34-year-old bakery worker, Mohammed Ahmed was paraded on Wednesday, September 2, by officials of the Osun state command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, for raping his 14-year-old daughter.
Ahmed told journalists in Osogbo that he started having sex with his daughter since April, The Punch reports.
According to him, he has two wives. The first gave birth to three children before leaving him while the second wife gave birth to two children before she died.
“This one is the first child of my first wife. I don’t know what came over me from April when I started having sex with my daughter. I did not see anything wrong then, whenever I was having sex with her. I only had sex with her six times since April 2015,” he said.
Ahmed, who asked for forgiveness, stated that he did not know what made him turn his daughter into his sex partner, saying, “I did not know what came over me, but I am regretting the whole thing now. I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t smoke.”
The primary 5 girl, dressed in public school uniform, who was obviously shattered, was not allowed to speak to journalists.
Speaking on the incident, Wale Folarin, head of the public relations and protocols unit of the
NSCDC, said one of the neighbours alerted the command of the man’s act.
The neighbour told the command that he used to hear the girl’s cry almost every night, prompting him to inquire from the girl, who confided in him the disgraceful act of her father.
Folarin said the case would be transferred to the Ministry of Women Affairs in the state.
