The Second In Command To Ooni Of Ife Is Dead

The Obalufe of Iremo quarters, Oba Solomon Omisakin who was the leader of Ile-Ife kingmakers is dead.

The death of Oba Omisakin is coming three months after the death of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijiwade in a London’s hospital.

There is fear that the death of the leader of Kingmakers may bring uncertainty on the selection of a new Ooni of Ife which has resulted to court case.

The Obalufe is the prime minister of Ife and stand-in when the Ooni is absence.

It is still unclear the circumstance leading to the death of Oba Omisakin as the moment. His death would, however, stall the selection and crowning of a new Ooni as his replacement must be made prior to the installation of a new Ooni.

Meanwhile, Professor Ade Aderibigbe, the head of the screening committee overseeing the selection of the next Ooni of Ife had been accused of receiving N20 million and a car from a candidate.

The accusation was made by Prince Ade Ogunleye, the spokesperson of the Agbedegbede royal compound.

Ogunleye accused the professor of making the screening process a one-man show and had distorted the history of the royal compounds.
