One Abdullahi Zakari was reported to have had carnal knowledge of his 18-year-old daughter. A Lagos magistrate court sitting in Surulere area of the state stated that the 56-year-old man is to remain in prison custody until his bail conditions are met., a Lagos court has ruled

. A Lagos magistrate court gave the judgement, informing that Zakari should be put behind bars in Ikoyi Prisons pending when his bail conditions were met. The presiding judge Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni, slammed a bail of N500,000 on the alleged rapist with two responsible sureties also in the same amount of money. It was learnt that one of the sureties related to the alleged rapist and the other should own his own personal house.  Moreso, Dan-Oni stated that the sureties should show evidence of tax payment to the government of Lagos.

Rape case

The man who is in his late fifties is said to be a resident ofNo.42, Gaskiya street, Ijora-Badia in Apapa area. On his part, Zakari pleaded that he was innocent of the offence brought upon him. But the prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande told the court that the accused committed the offence at his apartment between February and August. The magistrate court said: “It is a shameful act that should not be condoned. This is a serious offence and an abomination. The complainant said the father used to fondle her breast anytime she was in the room.

“The accused had sex with the daughter against her wish.” Osanyande said the rape case was against Section 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The case was adjourned to Monday, September for further hearing. About a week ago, a 27-year-old man, Goke Akinmusayo, was declared wanted by men of Okitipupa divisional police force in Ekiti state after he allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl to a state of coma.
