Thank God, At Last! – Nigerians React To Diezani ’s Reported Arrest In London

In the evening of Friday, October 2, the news broke that Nigeria’s former minister of petroleum sources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, was arrested in London.

Four other Nigerians were said to have been also arrested alongside the ex minister. All were reportedly detained over bribery and corruption related offences currently being investigated by the UK National Crime Agency.

As the personality of the former minister has been for years associated with serious controversy and possible corruption cases, the social media immediately exploded with comments on the matter.

Many seem satisfied with the development. Some, however, see witch-hunting carried out by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

This is what 234Forum readers on Facebook say:

Taiwo Olalekan Ajao: “The woman is powerful o, u said they arrested her in usa last month and again in uk this month. Am very sure they ll arrest her in canada.next month.”

Chinedu Obiosa: “Wetin she do dis wicked pple? They should leave the innocent women alone.”

Interestingly, the alleged arrest comes several days after President Buhari announced himself as a petroleum minister. The country leader also said that thorough investigation into the activities of oil firms and other relevant agencies under Goodluck Jonathan’s administration had already started.
