Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a swipe at Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state, labelling him as a tribal and clannish leader. According to him, Oshiomhole is only interested in developing his village of Iyamho at the expense of other communities in the state. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the governorship candidate of the PDP has said Governor Adams Oshiomhole is clannish and a tribalist.
Speaking in Uromi, Esan Northeast local government area as he flagged-off his governorship campaign in the senatorial zone, Ize-Iyamu claimed that Oshiomhole, clannish disposition, tarred over twenty roads in his Iyamho village as against only one in Esan West local government which he has just flagged- off. He said that despite the over N1.4trillion received by the Oshiomhole administration in the last eight years, Edo state had nothing to show for it in terms of the provision of social amenities and infrastructures. But in a swift response, Peter Okhiria, chief press secretary to Governor Oshiomhole, described the statement by Pastor Ize-Iyamu as untrue.
Meanwhile, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state has said the PDP stand no chance of defeating the APC in the September 10 governorship election in the state.
Speaking during the APC stakeholders’ meeting in Benin on Wednesday, July 13, Oshiomhole described PDP’s plan to reclaim Edo state as a campaign “dead on arrival”. Oshiomhole said that the absence of the PDP governors at the flag-off of the party governorship campaign showed that the party already rejected the candidate of one of its factions.
