PDP Reveals How Much Mu’azu Pocketed From Sales Of Nomination Form

The People’s Democratic Party in Bauchi state has suggested that former national Chairman of the party, Adamu Mu’azu might have pocketed as much as N9b in nomination sales funds.

Speaking to newsmen in Bauchi, a chieftain of the party, Bibi Dogo tasked the National Working Committee to summon Muazu to account for the funds generated from sales of nomination forms ahead of the 2015 general elections.

Dogo alleged that Olisa Metuh had told party officials of the supposed scam by Muazu.

Daily Independent quotes the chieftain saying, “Muazu should come back and hand over officially because we learnt from the National Publicity Secretary, Oliseh Metuh, that they realized N9b from the sale of forms, so Muazu should be forced to come and account for it because it is public fund.

Dogo hailed the resignation of Muazu saying the party would not move forward with Muazu at the helm of affairs.

The Chieftain said Mu’azu’s resignation is something party members had wanted even before the 2015 general elections. Dogo said he told out-going president, Goodluck Jonathan of Muazu’s in capabilities but he was rejected.

Dogo also said the the National Working Committee, state, local government and ward executives  should follow in the footsteps of Muazu and Board  of Trustee Chairman ,Tony Anenih to tender their resignation so the party can restructure itself.

The chieftain warned against the imposition of candidates on the party saying “we don’t want imposition of leaders on our members, they should allow the members to choose their leaders by themselves because that was what led to the defeat of PDP in the just concluded election.”

Dogo and other PDP chieftain’s have expressed joy at Mu’azu’s resignation. Reacting on the chairman’s resignation, Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose said, “We see it as a welcome development. When a political party loses an election, the moral thing for the leadership of that party is to quit office.”

Meanwhile, chief media spokesman for Goodluck Jonathan’s failed re-election campaign, Femi Fani-Kayode reacting to the resignations said, “And we are happy that Muazu had finally answered the call and done the honorable thing. When will Metuh do it? When will Oladipo do it? When will the rest of them do it? That is what we are waiting for.”
