On June 7 President Muhammadu Buhari left Nigeria to attend one of the most important international political events, the G7 Summit.
The president was accompanied by Kashim Shettima, the governor of Borno state, Babatunde Fashola, the former governor of Lagos state, Abdulrahman Dambazau, the former chief of army staff, and other officials.
During the summit Buhari presented the Nigeria’s “wish list” to the G7 industrialized countries with a special emphasis on countering terrorism.
World leaders, in their turn, expressed readiness to help Nigeria tackle its major problems. The French president assured Buhari that France will give Nigeria great support against terrorism, comprising military and intelligence cooperation, to help them overcome the security challenge posed by the Boko Haram sect.
The president of Nigeria also attended a cocktail reception where he talked to Ban Ki Moon, the secretary general of the United Nations, and Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the foreign minister of Germany.
Apart from taking part in official political meetings, Buhari had time to relax and enjoy the beautiful city of Munich.The president and the former Lagos state governor were spotted chatting and strolling through the streets.
