Visa Issuance To Nigeria In South Africa Suspended

Amid the economic turmoil that Nigeria is going through, the country has been dealt another blow as visa issuance to Nigeria in South Africa has been suspended.

This means the Nigerian headquarters in South Africa is unable to issue visas for business, visitor or tourist visa applicants.

A notice on the visa headquarters website reads: “VisaHQ does not provide service for visas to Nigeria”.

The consulate urged those who needed to go to Nigeria to visit the nearest embassy or consulate in Nigeria.

Nigerian Bulletin reports that the manager of Ocean Air Travel in Johannesburg, Liz Budge, confirmed the new development.

“The consulate has no visa labels and that means no visas can be issued at all till they receive stock”.

According to her, the visa will be unavailable until mid-February.

Meanwhile, Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria told the Senate that there was no going back on the restrictions placed on bureaux de change operators.
